GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Back on ACC media day, I'm pretty sure no one was happier to get a question about an all-time all-ACC team than Wake Forest forward David Weaver.
"Ooooooooooooooh," the North Carolina native noted approvingly.
I'll be the one to say that no current player put together a better team than the Demon Deacons forward.
Let's get to the transcript. After you read it to the end, you'll probably agree.
"Point guard, [Phil] Ford from Carolina. You got to have [Michael] Jordan on there," Weaver said.
OK, most of the backcourt is done.
"You gotta have big men," Weaver said. "I can't think of any off the top of my head. You know what, I'm going to be J.J. Redick in there. I don't know why. I'm having two twos. Big men, Ralph Sampson. I want to put another big man in there. I don't want four guards."
The thing is, if there's any player who would make a four-guard set possible, it would be Sampson.
Weaver, being a good sport, proceeded to ask for some other options. Eventually, I got around to mentioning one of his predecessors in Winston-Salem --- Tim Duncan.
"I'll put Tim Duncan in there at the four," Weaver said before switching gears. "J.J.'s go to go. I'm going with David Thompson."
So in review:
PG Phil Ford
SG Michael Jordan
3G David Thompson
PF Tim Duncan
C Ralph Sampson
"I'll put them up against anybody," Weaver said.
Pretty sure just about anyone would.
No one from Duke or Maryland? Are you kidding me? I'd take Len Bias over Tim Duncan.
