Before diving (intermittently) into some other things throughout the night (and, yes, I'm fully aware of the intermittent updates today; getting home from copy editing at 2:45 a.m. is no fun, I promise), here's a basic tidbit to note.
Maryland forward Jordan Williams, he of the three double-doubles to start the season, is among the 44 players on the Naismith Award watch list.
This award wisely includes freshmen on its watch list, and the predictable names --- Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving, Jared Sullinger and Brandon Knight among them --- pop up.
But so do a total of eight ACC players, including:
Harrison Barnes, North Carolina
Malcolm Delaney, Virginia Tech
Kyrie Irving, Duke
Kyle Singler, Duke
Chris Singleton, Florida State
Nolan Smith, Duke
Jordan Williams, Maryland
Tyler Zeller, North Carolina
That's probably an accurate listing of the ACC's eight best players. Sure, Zeller's never stayed healthy for a season, North Carolina's John Henson could be that good and Durand Scott at Miami is consistently overlooked.
Overall, though, it's a fair group --- one Williams certainly belongs in at this stage of the season.
