Maryland guard Nick Faust took the last two days off with muscle spasms, but coach Mark Turgeon still anticipates the sophomore will play Wednesday against Florida State.
Faust played only five minutes in Saturday's 94-71 defeat of Virginia Tech.
"It's become more than I anticipated; I expected him to play Saturday, but it locked up," Turgeon said on Monday's ACC teleconference. "He took yesterday off, took today off and he'll give it a go tomorrow. I'll be shocked and disappointed if he doesn't pplay Wednesday. He's feeling better. Hopefully, he'll be full go tomorrow."
Faust is averaging 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds for the Terrapins, and Turgeon is optimistic the Baltimore product will be able to resume a larger role Wednesday. Faust did not play in the second half of Saturday's victory.
"I'd like to think Nick never gets out of shape," Turgeon said. "I'll know more tomorrow when we practice. The doctors advised us to give him today off. ... I expect him tomorrow to go full tilt tomorrow."
