With Army athletic director Kevin Anderson on his way to take the same job at Maryland per multiple sources, one leftover question concerns the status of interim athletic director Randy Eaton.
Eaton, who has filled in for two months since Debbie Yow left for N.C. State, is also the Maryland' athletic department's chief financial officer. Reached by telephone this afternoon, Eaton couldn't confirm Anderson was Maryland's choice --- in part because Eaton's e-mail was down for much of the day.
Eaton said he knew Anderson was the AD at Army, but was not too familiar with his new potential boss. And while he acknowledged Anderson could bring in his own people, Eaton is hopeful he can remain in College Park.
"I hope that I'm still part of the equation at Maryland," Eaton said. "I do not have a desire to leave and really tried to be very careful how I went about the search process, because I didn't want to get to where I had to leave. I'm hoping that remains the case. I also know when there's a change of leadership, a lot of times they will bring someone with them. I hope that doesn't happen because I think we have a very strong [team]. But that's the prerogative of our new athletic director."
