Maryland-Temple BB&T showdown set

In what isn't much of a shock at all, Maryland will face Temple in the Dec. 5 BB&T Classic.

George Washington-Navy and American-Florida --- a pair of rematches from last year, although only GW-Navy was a BB&T game --- are also part of the tripleheader at Verizon Center.

It will be the first game between Maryland and Temple since 2006, although the teams have scrimmaged each other the last two years.

It is also a reunion between Maryland's Gary Williams and former assistant Fran Dunphy, who has reached 12 NCAA tournaments during a long career at Penn and later Temple.

It also slots an extra game into the Terrapins' schedule, which can be as large as 31 games thanks to participating in an exempt tournament with four contests.

Maryland finishes 28th in Directors Cup The final Directors Cup standings were released this week. Maryland is right back where it finished last year.
