What to do with a four-year starter at Maryland who was a first-team all-conference pick as a senior, but only played one season in the time frame the Stocked Fridge series encapsulates?
A spot right around the top 20 sounds about right.
Melvin Fowler capped a strong career at Maryland with a standout 2001, helping the Terrapins win the ACC and reach the Orange Bowl.
He snapped to Shaun Hill (after working with Ken Mastrole, Randall Jones, Calvin McCall, Latrez Harrison and Hill in previous years) and helped block for ACC offensive player of the year Bruce Perry.
Basically, he was a critical component to Maryland's offensive line his entire career. Fowler started every game of his career, and he eventually went in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2002.
By talent, he might belong a couple spots higher.
But with other guys accruing both quality and quantity, this is probably an appropriate placement for one of the stalwarts of the Terps' breakout 2001 outfit.
