Preseason practice has started, people are thinking about football and (unsurprisingly) pageviews are up in D1scourse land.
So it's time to revisit an idea from about three weeks ago --- the Best Eats in the ACC guide I plan to piece together about a week before the season.
Now, a lot of folks have offered some ideas back on the original post, and for that, I'm grateful. Most of those ideas will find their way into the guide at some point.
But if you haven't seen that yet or commented yet, please do.
There's a lot of representation for Blacksburg, Charlottesville and Tallahassee, and moderate nominees for most everywhere else.
Still, Clemson, Coral Gables and Winston-Salem are a bit lacking at this point. Charlotte and Greensboro, home of the ACC football title game and basketball tournament, respectively, could use some more options as well.
As a caveat, "best eats" can be the finest restaurants you've been to. But diners, burger joints, holes-in-the-wall and the like are fantastic, too. The guide is going to be a mix of everything, to reflect a range of tastes.
So feel free to leave a comment, and hopefully some of the holes will be filled in for a guide that hopefully will be done by the time the season kicks off Sept. 2.
As far as college town atmospheres, Coral Gables makes College Park look like Chapel Hill. It isn't a college town so there just aren't that many places to eat there. I don't remember where I ate in Coral Gables other than the Burger King and the on-campus Rathskellar - this alone speaks volumes.

As to College Park, I don't think you can talk about dining there without some places I didn't see mentioned in the original article
The Coop for one, was my goto dining spot for my 4 years there. Sure, you have to deal with the crusties, but it's damned good food for not too bad a price.
God knows what it's hours are, but the Berwyn Cafe serves good vegetarian fare. I realize I'm probably the outlier as a vegetarian sports fan, but it's what I do.
Have to second the suggestions of Franklin's and Ledo Pizza.
Forgive me if I'm missing something, but are near surroundings ok? Because over 193 into Langley/University Park there are a ton of great ethnic places. Woodlands and Udupi Palace come to mind immediately. I know there are some good taco trucks over there as well.

Re: Winston-Salem
A favorite in the city is Little Richard's BBQ. While it is a ways from campus, this local dig has some delicious Lexington-style bbq. Downtown there is a newer restaurant called Bib's Ribs that has some tasty bbq, ribs and hushpuppies as well.
Right across the street from the stadium is Putter's, which also popular with the locals. They have very good burgers, steaks, chicken and plenty of beers on tap. If you want to stop by before the game, you better get there early because it fills up pretty quickly. Their soft chips are amazing.
Other W-S favorites: Foothills Brewery, Elizatbeth's (Italian), and a plug for my personal favorite - Ishi (Japanese)
I don't frequent Greensboro a whole lot, but Stamey's BBQ is close to the coliseum and is a local favorite.

Marathon Deli is a top 10 joint in ACC territory. Not much else in CP.

To add to Frank's post:
Clemson:
TD's & TTT are the two best pre/post game bars, IMO.
Seasons by the Lake for a great view, although pricier dinner. Also good for post-golf drinks, and Sunday brunch.
Keith Street Cafe - huge beer selection
Pixie & Bills & Calhoun Corners are Clemson staples.
Pot Belly Deli has good sandwiches.
And, the Esso Club was named amongst the best bars in America by Playboy while I was in school.

A friend of mine suggested a couple of places in W-S, NC.
For great BBQ - Prissy Polly's BBQ in Kernersville and Shane's Rib Shack in Greensboro.
In Raleigh-Durham, Angus Barn and Sullivan's Steak House (both pricier).
