Today was cut day in the NFL, the time when pro teams slash their rosters to 53 men. Some interesting names made it from a Maryland perspective, while others weren't so fortunate.
Notably, Phil Costa made Dallas' roster as a backup offensive lineman. Costa started 12 games at center last year for the Terrapins, and earlier in his career played both guard spots. Meanwhile, Denver acquired Dan Gronkowski from Detroit for former Wake Forest cornerback Alphonso Smith.
Among today's former Maryland players cut: Isaiah Williams (Arizona) Andrew Crummey (Carolina), Edwin Williams (Chicago), Travis Ivey (Cleveland), Terrell Skinner (Indianapolis), Jeremy Navarre (Jacksonville) Nick Novak (San Diego) and Dre Moore (Tampa Bay).
That unofficially leaves 26 guys who made it onto an opening week roster based on some scouring
