FRED ---
I am still pondering everything. But my immediate take is this: Maryland made a safe, solid, competent hire. Edsall has the goods to win eight games a season, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Absolutely nothing flashy, and it will not generate any juice for the program from a publicity standpoint. Given the personnel in place and Edsalls preference for a pro-style offense, things bode well competitively for 2011 and 2012. Beyond that remains to be seen.
In short, it is a stabilizing move. There is a case to be made that Maryland has gone from good to ... also good.
