Massachusetts defensive coordinator Keith Dudzinski will join Maryland's football staff as a linebackers coach, a source familiar with the situation said Wednesday.
Linebackers coach Todd Bradford is expected to be named the defensive coordinator, the source said. Bradford served as Southern Mississippi's defensive coordinator for the last three seasons before joining new coach Randy Edsall's staff in January.
(UPDATE, 3:53 p.m.: Bradford is listed as Maryland's defensive coordinator/DBs coach on Maryland's website).
Maryland was seeking a new defensive coordinator after Don Brown left College Park to take over as Connecticut's defensive coordinator earlier this month. In Dudzinski, the Terrapins will get perhaps Brown's most trusted protege.
Dudzinski and Brown worked together from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2008. Dudzinski was a defensive assistant while Brown was the defensive coordinator at Brown (1996-97) and Massachusetts (1998-99) and later during Brown's head coaching stints at Northeastern (2002-03) and Massachusetts (2004-08).
Dudzinski was named the Minutemen's defensive coordinator in 2004, and remained in that post after Brown departed for Maryland.
