The annual Major League Baseball draft wrapped up over the weekend, and in keeping with an annual custom, here's the breakdown of players selected from colleges in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
Virginia Tech had six players picked, the most of any school in the area. Both Liberty and Maryland had four players selected.
Overall, 25 college players from Maryland, D.C. and Virginia were drafted, down from 35 in both 2010 and 2011 and 30 last year. Of course, the 2010 draft had 50 rounds, while the event now only goes 40 rounds.
